Horseracing is the New Sherriff in Town

It goes without saying that football has dominated the sports arena for countless of years. However, the sports industry is witnessing a new surge and it is gearing towards the horserace. The once unpopular sport for a few is being considered the major game for all. Quite a number of interests have been shown towards horseracing and the equestrians are gaining the long overdue recognition as outstanding sportsmen. As the interest in this sport increases, so are the participation and betting therein, and if you hope to profit off this great sport, you should consider dealing only with the best bookmaker for horse racing.

It is no gainsaying the said sport started as far back as in ancient Greece to the Arabic nations of Babylon, Syria and Egypt, and Roman Empire. When it made its way to the Great Britain it was popularized in the 17th century and was known as the sports for the nobles and as such it was nicknamed at the time “the sport of kings”. So did it journey to the centre stage if sports began- from the religious sport of the Greeks to the Noble sports of the Britons and now, one of the greatest sports show in the world over having its accepted regulations and rules of engagement.

Systems and Regulations

Like the race amongst people, the horserace is quite heavily regulated and specified. The Regulations by States provide for the types of race in which a horse and its jockey may engage in for the purpose of sport. These range from flat racing, endurance racing, jump racing and harness racing to mention but a few.  Flat racing is the race between two points; the starting pointing and the finish point. The racing is named according to the distance involved. The short distance race is called a sprint while the long distance race is called routes in the U.S and staying race in the European states.

It should be noted that this type of race can range from 400m to 4km. this race is akin to sprint races and marathon amongst humans. Jump racing or as is popularly known in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland National Hunt Racing the race past obstacles or better put, hurdles. It more or less includes flats races and jumping of hurdles. The harness racing is akin to chariot racing. It is the race wherein the two sets of horse are used (pacers and trotters) to run around a track while pulling sulky and the driver behind. The endurance race is the “long journey of horse racing” spanning from a distance of ten miles to hundred miles and can last for days and is usually done over a terrain.

The strength, endurance and sprints of horses differ greatly. This is why horses are classified into breeds and these breeds have their specialty in horse racing so to speak. There are the thoroughbred which are known for their speed and endurance for travelling medium distance at a fast pace; the standardbred which are multipurpose in usage but most especially for harness racing; the Arabian horse or as I call it “the endurance machine”. These breed is primarily used for endurance racing because of their stamina to travel long distance then quarter horse which was not an official breed of horse for race until 1940.

The governance of horserace is based on a nation as each country has their own body to regulate the noble sporting event. These also extend to the betting in the sport of horse racing. The significance of this is that though the horse race was unpopular amongst common men in the beginning, it is becomes vastly participated in and gaining notoriety by the day.

Conclusion

The importance of horse racing to the economy cannot be overemphasized. In New Zealand, it is a significant part of the economy and adds to the GDP and the country also made hundreds of millions of dollars in the sale of race horses. Other countries of the world have benefitted from the stream of inflow of cash by this noble sport. The horse race is so important a sport that recently, the Sky Bet with its football rich heritage demonstrated that horse racing is taking over as the national sport for GreatBritain.

Without much ado, it can be said unequivocally that horserace with its attendant notoriety as a sporting event is the new sheriff in town with potential avenue to make good via betting especially for those who have mastered the racing betting systems. It will only take good knowledge of the game and a betting guide to profit off the great sport.
